Wendy Zierler

Wendy Zierler is the Sigmund Falk Professor of Modern Jewish Literature and Feminist Studies at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in New York. She received her PhD and MA from Princeton University and her BA from Stern College of Yeshiva University. She also holds an MFA in Fiction Writing from Sarah Lawrence College and received rabbinic ordination from Yeshiva Maharat in 2021.

Zierler is the author of several books, including Movies and Midrash: Popular Film and Jewish Religious Conversation (2017) and And Rachel Stole the Idols: The Emergence of Hebrew Women’s Writing (2004). She is also the co-editor of Prooftexts: A Journal of Jewish Literary History.
