“And Rachel Stole the Idols”

This first class will serve as an introduction to the beginning of modern Hebrew women’s poetry and the way in which some of the earliest Hebrew women’s poets, embraced and reinterpreted the modern of the biblical Rachel, beginning with the very first modern Hebrew poet, Rachel Luzzatto Morpurgo of Trieste (1790-1871).
